Kilbirnie is a small town of around 7500 people situated in North Ayrshire on the West Coast of Scotland. Historically the town was built around the flax and weaving industries before iron and steelmaking took over in the 19th and early 20th Centuries. The local steelworks closed in 1979 and The Radio City Association redeveloped the former Radio Cinema into a Healthy Living Centre and Tesco built a new supermarket in the town centre.
